How Spirit Guides and Angels Help us Caring for and Loving Ourselves Paul Lives in Lincoln. His guide was channelled at Gorton Monastery in October 2010 - and is an angel who called themselves “Legion”. In June 2011 Paul emailed me to say that, tragically, his Dad had died unexpectedly, leaving him and his family distraught. At the funeral directors, while he was making arrangements for his Dad’s burial, Paul silently asked Legion to give him a sign that his Dad was OK and the strength to cope throughout this ordeal. Driving home a few minutes later, Paul found himself having to wait at some red lights. The car in front was a silver Mercedes. It caught Paul’s attention because his Dad had driven the very same model and colour car. The car’s number plate was one Paul had not seen before nor has seen since. It was LEG 10N. Needless to say Paul recognised this as a sign from his guide. Amazed and uplifted, Paul had the forethought to capture the moment with his mobile phone camera. He tool a photograph of the car’s number plate and sent it to me with this story. Jenny sat next to me in my studio in Preston. As I tuned in to her aura I became aware of a structured maze of energy around her. It seemed impenetrable, shielding from sight anything she would not wish me to see. “You are very well protected, Jenny” I said to her. “Yes” she replied “I take spiritual protection very seriously indeed”. As she spoke a spirit sword flashed like lightening in front of me, its needle sharp tip quivering a millimetre from my nose. I had come close enough and would not be permitted further without Jenny’s permission. “Umm, who is the guy with the sword?” I asked. Jenny turned towards me, her huge brown eyes shining. “Why, that’s Archangel Michael” she smiled “I ask him to surround me with protection at least four times a day” I had to laugh and I described to her what I had seen. This was what Jenny needed - to feel safe spiritually and to know that when she asks her guides and angels to help her, this is exactly what they are doing. Archangel Michael is very powerful and effective. All you have to do to receive his protection is ask him. As children have imaginary friends, so do adults. Some guides/energies seem to simply enjoy simply being in someone’s presence and are there as spiritual company, in much the same way as would a friend. Many people I speak to are starting to open up spiritually and psychically and are having unusual psychic experiences. To all intents and purposes these are happening in purely in their minds, so they keep it all to themselves because they do not want to be labelled by their colleagues, friends or relatives as being odd or strange. Neil was one such person, and to me, he seemed to have a clear, bright light to him that shone out through his eyes. I felt he had very strong abilities as a medium. Neil had been experiencing lucid dreams, during which he saw his guides and received what he called “tests” from them. “What kind of tests?” I asked. “Well,” he said “I’ll find myself in a situation where I can choose one way or another. Sometimes, I’ll feel really guilty as if I’ve done something wrong. I’m not a bad person. I’m not sure what’s going on. But this is happening a lot.” Neil’s guides communicated that in order to carry out spiritual work, one should have a strong set of personal ethics. We need to be very clear about what is right and what is wrong because mediums interact constantly with people who are vulnerable. Neil was being placed in these situations safely, in dreams, so he could be clear in his own mind about how he felt and may respond in a real life situation. I feel it is a great privilege to be taught directly by our spirit guides. They know us uniquely as individuals and they know our life purpose and abilities better than we know ourselves. Neil knew in his own mind what was happening but, like all of us at some time, wanted confirmation and reassurance. Finding our Life Path and Direction Everything about this guide spoke of flowers - from her rosebud lips, pansy shaped
face and cornflower blue eyes. Surrounded with roses, even her name “Mignonette”
said it with flowers. As I painted her the clairvoyant information I received was
like a film where I watched her moving around a fragrant rectory garden collecting
flowers in a large wicker basket. She tied them into bunches to take with her on
visits to parishioners, giving them to the sick so their fragrance and beauty would
revive their spirits. Helping us Help and Care for Others I could see that Heather was very sceptical and all through her reading she was careful to give nothing away. When my sitter is present I like to start with a psychic link, picking up information by touching my sitter’s hand. From Heather it was abundantly clear from the warm wave of energy that coursed from her hand to mine that she was a healer and this she confirmed. I felt as though I were in a peaceful trance as this picture developed on the page. The colours that were laid down first to cover the paper had an ethereal quality that told me that the guide was not of human origin. The guide was working though Heather as she did her healing work. The guide was a light being, angelic and like an angel but not an angel. She had a Madonna-like appearance, wore a cloak and was gazing down as if from above. There was not very much more I could tell Heather about this guide, I didn’t feel there was much more to tell. This was a bit perplexing because normally spirit guides have plenty to say. “Do you know what you’ve done?” Heather said . I didn’t. I was pleased that she was pleased but surprised because I had not really given her much information (and my ego likes to do this). Heather continued to say that the picture was of a spirit she had seen helping her terminally ill husband pass to the spirit world 4 years before. For 2 weeks each night this same spirit had appeared to her exactly as in the picture. Then it departed until appearing in the portrait. As we talked I learned that lately Heather had been doubting., questioning She was an experienced healer who worked with the terminally ill but not, she said, as a healer. “I’ve been thinking about starting the healing up again” she told me. “How do you help the patients at the moment?” I asked. “I help them to get home” she said. Caring for and Loving Ourselves Healers and therapists, nurses and carers, paid and unpaid. They work hard and selflessly so that others less fortunate may have an easier, more loving and comfortable life. I have noticed that many carers actually seem to take more care of others than they do of themselves and can put others’ needs first at all times often at the expense of their own health. It will often come as a complete surprise for a carer when the guide that comes through is advising on their own welfare when what they want is a guide who will help them care for others. One lady I remember sat looking blank throughout her entire reading, denying everything her guide was saying. The messages were about her expending so much energy on others and needing to treat herself sometimes. Her guide gave masses of encouragement, information and tips about how to do this, even in limited time to uplift her spirits but it was as if every word I said was falling on deaf ears. I felt tired and dispirited at the end of this reading. “I seem to have failed with your friend” I said disappointedly to the lady who had organised the reading. “That’s nonsense” said the friend roundly “she’s in complete denial. She’s a nurse, has a sick mother and works round the clock. She is exhausted and won’t listen to any of her friends.” Kathy’s spirit guide was a Native American Indian who clearly indicated that he was communicating with her through clairaudience. At the time, Kathy was thinking she would like to develop her clairaudience but so far it hadn’t happened. It was 2 and a half years before I saw Kathy again. She wanted me to paint spirit guide portraits for her friends. At the end of the day, she told me this amazing story. Two weeks after receiving her guide’s portrait he actually appeared, as if real, in her home, standing in a doorway. This did not (as her guide knew it wouldn’t) disturb her. He told her that he was working with her and would give her information from spirit clairaudiently for people who sat with her for readings. I don’t often have readings for myself but nonetheless I asked Kathy to give me a reading. This reading was one of the most accurate and evidential readings I’d ever had. It felt surreal but really quite magical that the guide who was giving Kathy the information for me was the the same guide that I had drawn for her 2 and a half years before! Just imagine every person who has ever lived on this planet. And other planets. Every single one of those people have had a life purpose. Most have had some kind of work to do. Many have been exceptionally good at their work and these guides love to help us when their own skills are relevant to us. How do they help? By moving (with our main guide’s permission) close to us, into our auric field. This allows their energy to harmonise with our own and, for those who are sensitive to spirit energy and communication, to pick up on this consciously. It may be that we pick up our guides cues unconsciously, as “gut feel” or spontaneous thoughts. Our guides are responding to our own thoughts and wishes. Artists have appeared as guides for artists on the earth plane. Spirit musicians and music teachers for musicians here. Spirit dancers have shown up as spirit guides for dancers. The famous boxer “Gentleman Jack” who taught Regency noblemen the noble art was drawn for someone starting to teach Chi Gong. Emma was not sure what or who her spirit guide would be. My artist guides drew a large heart in the centre of the page. “This is an affair of the heart” I said. “It is about love”. Emma looked puzzled and I looked “inside”, to my third eye, for more information. Very carefully, the heart was embellished with a strange shell-like structure. “It reminded me of a painting by Boticelli, “It reminds me of The Birth of Venus”, I thought. As the picture developed I saw a 15th century cap appear, and I knew it belonged to a midwife. Her eyes held held a mischievous sense of humour. “Why” I asked Emma “would you need the help of a mischievous midwife in a love relationship?” Emma grinned. “We want a baby” she said “but my husband is concerned that now is not the right time.” “Well in your efforts to persuade him, you have a baby expert who seems to have some persuasive skills of her own” I told her. “Good” she said “and by the way, there are quite a few midwives in our family”. |

Jacob was the first guide I ever painted who was actually guiding me. It was early in my development as a psychic artist, my first steps on the road ahead.
In a clear vision during a meditation I saw Jacob’s hand stretch out towards me. He was barefooted, standing on a mountain path strewn with boulders.
I knew that if I accepted this invitation, the road may sometimes get a bit rocky but Jacob’s presence filled me with hope and excitement. I took his hand. I felt he would guide me safely around any obstacles and so it has proved.
Many people I have met have told me they feel a connection with him.
Others have told me they recognise him and see him as he is in this picture.

The picture for this elemental guide was channelled very quickly, almost breathlessly.
I wasn’t at all surprised to learn afterwards that the sitter loved fairies and being outside in woods, fields and gardens.
The fairy enjoys the company of the human who likes her home and the area she inhabits.
We are more likely to like someone who likes what we like. It seem that guides do as well.

Native American Indians do appear often, but certainly not exclusively, as guides for spiritual mediums.
Perhaps this is why so many people in Spiritualist Churches have Native American Indians as spirit guides.
